I'm employee #1 and CTO at AutogenAI, where I've built the product and the engineering organisation since the first commit in July 2022, through seed, Series A and a $39.5m Series B, to a team of forty across the UK, US and Australia. We were live with our first customer that autumn, on GPT-3 completions, six weeks before ChatGPT launched. The product has since been through four generations of architecture, GPT-3 completions, then retrieval, then multi-model routing and evaluation, now agentic workflows with tools and skills, without a rewrite.

AutogenAI makes software that writes bids and proposals. That puts our customers in defence, infrastructure, outsourcing, consulting and frontline public services, organisations that win their work by bidding for it, and that are answerable for how they did it. A good share of the last two years has gone on what that demands of a supplier: FedRAMP High, and the rest of the assurance work that lets a regulated buyer say yes.

Before AutogenAI I was CTO at Policy in Practice, a govtech company selling welfare and benefits software to local and central government. And earlier, before software, I spent five years designing and running government-funded employment programmes and writing the bids that won them, from £5k to over £5m. I have been on the bidding end of the procurement I now build software for.
